However, our recent trip back from Grand Manan had a silver lining. Thanks to an invitation from Tourism New Brunswick, our journey continued to the vibrant city of St. Johns New Brunswick. The highlight? Witnessing the incredible talent of world-renowned artist, Hula, as he created one of his signature tidal murals right on the Saint John harbourfront.

The Reversing Falls Skywalk had been on my must-visit list for a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype during our St. Johns New Brunswick exploration.

The Reversing Falls is a truly remarkable natural phenomenon. It’s where the powerful Bay of Fundy collides with the Saint John River, creating a spectacle unlike any other.
The experience changes dramatically with the tides. At low tide, the river rushes into the bay, forming rapids and whirlpools. As the tide rises, it slows the river’s flow, leading to a brief calm period known as slack tide. Then, as the Bay of Fundy’s massive tides continue to surge, the river’s flow reverses, and rapids reappear, peaking at high tide. This incredible 8.5-meter (28-foot) tide cycle occurs roughly every 12.5 hours.
The Skywalk offers the perfect vantage point to witness this natural wonder. Take the elevator to the observation deck for panoramic views of the Reversing Falls. For the adventurous, brave the glass floor for a thrilling perspective. Marvel at the Hula Tidal Mural: Art Inspired by the Ocean in St. Johns New Brunswick
During our visit to St. Johns New Brunswick, we were fortunate enough to witness the creation of The Hula Mural. This captivating piece of art was part of a live art experience from July 28th to August 8th, 2019. While the original mural was temporary, designed to eventually find a permanent location in the city, seeing Hawaiian artist Hula paint from a paddleboard as the tide shifted was truly unforgettable.

For a seafood enthusiast, Billy’s is paradise. Our meal was simply outstanding.
From the fresh PEI oysters to the generous Deep Sea Platter overflowing with fried clams, sea scallops, and haddock, it was the perfect culinary finale to our vacation. And a taste of Dan’s Halibut and Scampi confirmed – every dish is a winner.

Located right next to the historic City Market, this vibrant outdoor market runs on Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm until September 26th. If your visit to St. Johns New Brunswick falls on a Thursday, it’s definitely worth exploring.

I was particularly thrilled to see the Rogue Alien mural still adorning the alley wall from the Moonlight Bazaar – the perfect Instagrammable moment!

Stroll Along the Scenic St. Johns New Brunswick Waterfront
Finally, one of my favorite pastimes in the Port City is simply strolling along the harbourfront in St. Johns New Brunswick.
Enjoy a leisurely walk along the waterfront in Saint John, New Brunswick.
You never know what you might encounter – from impressive cruise ships and playful harbour seals to chance encounters with friends. The waterfront is also brimming with restaurants and food trucks. Find a patio, savor a drink, and soak in the sights and sounds, or check out the free concerts often happening throughout the summer.
We are already looking forward to our next visit to St. Johns New Brunswick!
