Remembering John Stirling: A Life Well-Lived in Louisville, Kentucky

John Stirling, a resident of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the age of 78. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John Stirling was deeply cherished by his family and friends. His warm presence and loving nature will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on August 13, 1943, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to John and Margaret (Corrigan) Stirling, John Stirling lived a life marked by dedication and love. He found immense joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Ryan Stirling. His passions included the tranquility of fishing and the excitement of drag racing, a fascination that began in his early years. He was also a lifelong, enthusiastic supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers, demonstrating his unwavering loyalty. After a dedicated career spanning four decades with the L&N Railroad, John Stirling retired, leaving behind a legacy of faithful service and commitment.

John Stirling is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Marian Stirling, his son, James Stirling, and his grandson, Ryan Stirling. He also leaves behind his siblings: Tom (Stacey) Stirling, Peggy Lee (Sam) McClurkin, Chris (Terry) Raymond, and Elizabeth (George) Hughes. His memory will be treasured by his nieces and nephews: John (Jenny) Stirling, Craig McClurkin, Matt (Bethany) Spencer, Becky Spencer, and Shari (William) Wells, as well as numerous extended family members and friends. John Stirling was predeceased by his father, John Samuel Stirling, his mother, Margaret Stirling, and his son, Scott Stirling.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation scheduled from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. A funeral service celebrating the life of John Stirling will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, at the same location, followed by burial at St. Andrew Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy for John Stirling be made through contributions in his memory to Hosparus of Louisville, an organization that was close to his heart.
