For years, I’ve been a no-frills underwear guy. Comfort is key, but spending a fortune on something that stays hidden seemed illogical. Like many, I opted for affordable, basic boxer briefs, settling for brands that were “good enough.” The idea of designer underwear felt like paying for a label, not necessarily better quality or comfort.
Then, Tommy John entered the scene. Known for their premium men’s underwear, they challenged the notion that underwear is just an afterthought. When Tommy John offered me a pair of their Go-Anywhere briefs and a t-shirt to review, I was intrigued. This isn’t a sponsored post, but in the interest of transparency, I received these items for free to provide my honest opinion. And honest it will be.
The briefs I received were from the Go Anywhere™ line in hunter green. This line is designed for active lifestyles, featuring 4-way stretch and moisture-wicking fabric at a slightly more accessible price point than their core collection. Alongside the briefs, I also got a navy “Second Skin Moroccan Tee.”

The Perks of Tommy John Briefs
Go Anywhere™ Briefs: Unmatched Comfort
Let’s cut to the chase: these briefs are incredibly comfortable. Seriously, game-changing comfortable. It’s the kind of comfort you didn’t realize you were missing. It’s almost baffling that I endured regular underwear for so long without knowing this level of comfort existed.
These briefs are like having a secret weapon in your wardrobe. They boost your confidence from the foundation up. It’s the Tommy John effect – feeling more put-together and comfortable in your clothes starts with what you wear underneath.
One of the biggest wins? No ride-up. Putting on pants becomes seamless. No more awkward adjustments and tugging throughout the day. Just smooth, comfortable wear.

And let’s talk about the Quick Draw® Fly. This feature alone is a reason to switch. It’s a practical, intuitive design that puts traditional underwear fly designs to shame. No more fumbling with confusing, overlapping flaps. The Quick Draw Fly is a simple, effective upgrade that every underwear brand should adopt.
Moroccan Tee: Soft and Substantial
The Moroccan Tee is equally impressive in its comfort. The neckline is a bit wider than I usually prefer, but according to feedback (including my wife’s), it’s a stylish fit. More importantly, it feels fantastic against the skin.
The fabric is wrinkle-resistant and has a noticeable weight to it. Personally, I appreciate a shirt with a bit of substance. It’s breathable but feels more substantial than many lightweight tees. It drapes well and maintains its shape, making it a reliable everyday shirt.
The Downside
The main drawback of Tommy John Briefs is the price. At $23-$34 per pair, they are significantly more expensive than many competitors on the market. If you’re used to buying multi-packs of budget underwear, the cost per pair of Tommy John briefs is a considerable jump.
Durability is another potential concern, although after a month of wear (at the time of the original review), the briefs showed no signs of wear and tear. A longer-term test is needed to fully assess longevity, but initial impressions are positive.
The Real Problem?
Honestly, the biggest issue is not having more pairs. These briefs are so comfortable and perform so well, that limiting myself to just one pair feels like a disservice. Expanding my Tommy John collection is definitely on the horizon.
Final Verdict: Are Tommy John Briefs Worth It?
So, is the hype around premium athletic underwear justified? Is upgrading to something like Tommy John briefs truly worth the investment?
Unequivocally, yes. Your nether regions will thank you for the upgrade to supremely comfortable, moisture-wicking Tommy John briefs.
Do yourself a favor and invest in a pair. You won’t regret it.
** SIX-MONTH UPDATE **
Following up on the durability question after six months of wear. And yes, I’ve received some, shall we say, unusual inquiries about my underwear’s condition.
Rotating this single pair into my underwear drawer approximately once every ten days, they’ve held up remarkably well. The only minor sign of wear is a tiny bit of pilling on the top edge of the elastic waistband, likely from dryer cycles.
Beyond that, there are no issues. No unusual wear and tear, no loss of shape or function. They feel and perform just as they did on day one. If anyone is wearing out their Tommy John briefs in six months, I suspect they fall into one of two categories:
- Significantly more active than my moderately active lifestyle (think construction workers, athletes, etc.).
- Wearing them far more frequently than I have been rotating this single pair.
For highly active individuals, the lifespan might vary. However, for everyday wear and moderate activity, Tommy John briefs appear to be durable and long-lasting, in addition to being incredibly comfortable and high-performing.
