St. John Bosco High School Scholarships: Paving the Way for Academic Excellence

St. John Bosco High School is committed to recognizing and fostering the potential of incoming 9th-grade students through its robust scholarship programs. These scholarships are designed to reward students who demonstrate outstanding achievements and embody the values of the Bosco community. Two primary categories of scholarships are available: the prestigious Presidential Scholarship and Merit-Based Scholarships, each offering unique opportunities for deserving students to access a St. John Bosco education.

The Presidential Scholarship: Recognizing Exceptional Potential

The St. John Bosco High School Presidential Scholarship stands as the highest academic honor awarded to incoming freshmen. Each year, up to five Presidential Scholarships are granted to 9th-grade students who have excelled in academics, community involvement, leadership, and character. This distinguished scholarship, valued at $5,000, is directly applied to tuition costs and is renewable annually for all four years at St. John Bosco, provided the recipient maintains the high standards upon which it was awarded.

Presidential Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the Presidential Scholarship, applicants must meet the following rigorous criteria:

  • Academic Excellence: Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.75, reflecting a strong commitment to academic pursuits.
  • Exemplary Character: Demonstrate outstanding character, upholding the moral and ethical principles of St. John Bosco High School.
  • Community Service Engagement: Be actively involved in community or parish service, showcasing a dedication to giving back to the wider community.
  • School Leadership & Extracurriculars: Exhibit leadership qualities within their current school environment and participate actively in extracurricular activities, demonstrating a well-rounded profile.

Applying for the Presidential Scholarship:

Eligible students seeking the Presidential Scholarship must submit a comprehensive application package. This includes a 1-2 page personal essay detailing how they have demonstrated academic excellence, community or parish service, school leadership, and outstanding character. Additionally, an academic letter of recommendation from their current school is required to support their application.

To be considered for this prestigious award, students must complete their application by the early commitment deadline of October 31st. The St. John Bosco Administration Team carefully reviews all eligible applications. Successful candidates will be notified and the scholarship will be formally presented by a St. John Bosco official at their 8th-grade graduation ceremony, pending grammar school approval.

The Role of a Presidential Scholar Ambassador:

Presidential Scholarship recipients are not only financial aid beneficiaries but also become ambassadors for St. John Bosco High School. In this role, they are expected to attend designated meetings and fulfill specific duties, representing the school with pride and integrity. Maintaining excellence in academics, character, community service, and school involvement is crucial for the annual renewal of the Presidential Scholarship throughout their four years at St. John Bosco.

Merit-Based Scholarships: Recognizing Diverse Talents

Beyond the Presidential Scholarship, St. John Bosco High School offers a range of Merit-Based Scholarships to recognize diverse talents and interests among incoming 9th-grade students. These scholarships become accessible within the student application checklist after submitting the general St. John Bosco application. Applicants are encouraged to log back into their account and review their checklist to explore the available merit-based scholarship opportunities.
