John Mark Huckabee Involved in Traffic Accident, Released from Hospital

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and his wife, Janet, received reassuring news in January 2008 while campaigning in New Hampshire: their son, John Mark Huckabee, was involved in a traffic accident in Des Moines, Iowa, but sustained only minor injuries. John Mark Huckabee, the eldest son of the then-presidential candidate, was treated and promptly released from a local Des Moines hospital on Friday following the incident.

According to a press release from the Huckabee campaign, John Mark Huckabee had been in Iowa supporting his father’s presidential bid. He was traveling back to Arkansas with family friends David and Debbie Haak of Texarkana, Arkansas, when the accident occurred. Their vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 when another car, entering from an on-ramp, collided with the passenger side of their car.

Emergency services and police responded to the scene. John Mark Huckabee, along with David and Debbie Haak, were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, all three individuals were found to have sustained only minor injuries and were released after receiving treatment. Authorities at the scene issued a citation to the driver of the vehicle responsible for causing the collision.

Governor Mike Huckabee stated that both he and Janet Huckabee were greatly relieved to learn that John Mark Huckabee was alright. While acknowledging their son would experience some stiffness and soreness, doctors confirmed that he had escaped any serious harm. The incident occurred while Mike and Janet Huckabee were actively campaigning, highlighting the personal concerns that even public figures face amidst demanding schedules. This news provided relief to the Huckabee family and campaign team, ensuring that John Mark Huckabee’s well-being was the primary concern despite the ongoing presidential race.
