Furman “Pat” Whitescarver, Jr., a resident of Roanoke County, Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the age of 85. His life, well-lived and dedicated to both his profession and community, is remembered through John M. Oakey obituaries and the hearts of those he touched. Born in Salem, Pat was a proud graduate of Andrew Lewis High School’s class of 1951. He furthered his education at Hampton-Sydney College before earning his law degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.

Mr. Whitescarver dedicated 56 years of his life to practicing law, leaving an indelible mark on the legal community. His commitment to Roanoke County and the City of Salem was further exemplified by his distinguished service as Commissioner of Accounts, a role he held since 1977. This long tenure speaks volumes about his expertise and the trust placed in him by the local jurisdictions.

Beyond his professional achievements, Pat was deeply involved in numerous organizations, reflecting his commitment to service and community enrichment. Pat is survived by his cherished companion of over twenty-five years, Emily F. Frisbie, who shared in his life’s journey. His legacy continues through his three children: Todd Derek Whitescarver, F. Scott Whitescarver, and Carol W. Gardner, along with their spouses. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one. He is also remembered by his brother, John Penn Whitescarver, and sister, Maslin W. Kain, and their respective spouses, Betty and Maslin.
