John Force Makes Remarkable Recovery After Virginia Nationals Crash: Released from Rehab

Drag racing icon John Force, a 16-time NHRA champion, has been discharged from Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, marking a significant step in his recovery journey following a severe accident at the NHRA Virginia Nationals in June 2024. The funny car legend is now back home, transitioning to outpatient therapy after a month-long stay at the rehabilitation center.

Force’s ordeal began on June 23rd at Virginia Motorsports Park when, despite winning his heat at an impressive 302 mph, his engine exploded, sending his Funny Car violently crashing into a concrete barrier. The impact resulted in a traumatic brain injury (TBI), a fractured sternum, and other injuries. Initially airlifted to a Virginia hospital, Force spent 15 days under intensive care before being transferred to Barrow Neurological Institute, renowned for its neurological rehabilitation programs, to address cognitive and behavioral challenges stemming from the TBI.
