John T. Daily, affectionately known as Jack to those closest to him, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2024, in the company of his loving family. His life, marked by service, dedication, and a zest for simple pleasures, will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. This John Daily memorial celebrates his journey and the indelible mark he left on his community and loved ones.
Born to his late parents, Paul and Anna Daily, John Daily was a pillar of strength and love for his family. He was the devoted husband and companion of Sharilee F. Daily of Weymouth, sharing a deep bond of love and companionship. His legacy continues through his children, Michael Daily and his wife Susan, and Megan Sikora. John Daily was also a cherished stepfather to Maryellen Damon, Michael Damon, and the late Mark Damon, embracing them as his own.
The Daily family extended beyond blood relations to include his siblings, Judith North-Smith and Faith Schutte, and he was predeceased by his brother Henry Daily. He held a special bond with his dear friend and brother-in-law, William Fountain. John Daily‘s joy was amplified by his role as grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each adding to the rich tapestry of his life. Not to be forgotten was Hank, his loyal dog, who brought constant companionship and happiness into his days.
A proud veteran, John Daily served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. His commitment to service extended beyond his military tenure into his diverse and industrious career. From the entrepreneurial venture of owning the Hingham Lobster Pound, a local seafood landmark, to the demanding work as a welder in the Quincy shipyard, and his dedicated service to the community at the Hull post office, John Daily exemplified a strong work ethic and a spirit of perseverance.
Beyond his professional life, John Daily cultivated a rich personal life filled with passions and interests. An avid reader, he found solace and adventure in the pages of books. As a passionate fan of the New England Patriots, he shared the highs and lows of each season with unwavering enthusiasm. John Daily possessed the gift of storytelling, captivating listeners with his narratives and anecdotes. He treasured trips to Foxwoods and spontaneous road trips, always open to new experiences and adventures. His creative spirit found expression in painting and drawing, revealing his artistic talents and appreciation for beauty.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visiting hours on Friday from 4-7 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH, located at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). A funeral service to honor John Daily’s life will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at the same location, McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH, 40 Sea St. (off Rt. 3A-Bicknell Sq.), Weymouth. Following the service, burial will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.
