John Curry, also lovingly known as Jim, passed away peacefully on August 25th in Arlington, Texas, surrounded by family and friends.
A celebration of John Curry’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30th at Irving Baptist Fellowship, located at 2201 West Shady Grove Road, Irving, Texas 75060. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 157, P.O. Box 150356, Arlington, Texas 76015-6256, in honor of John Curry’s service.
Born on March 30, 1948, to John Y. Curry and Theresa (Coonan) Curry, John Curry’s life was one of dedication and warmth. A 1966 graduate of West Catholic High School, John Curry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service extended throughout his life.
In 1971, John Curry married Maureen Donahue and together they raised two daughters, Jeanine and Eileen. His professional career with Bell & Howell brought him to Arlington, TX in 1987. Later in life, John Curry married Dianna Miller, and Arlington remained their cherished home.
Those who knew John Curry remember him for his unfailing positivity, often declaring himself “Gosh darn wonderful.” He was deeply involved in his community, always ready to lend a hand and actively volunteering with numerous organizations. Notably, John Curry served as the chaplain for the Disabled American Veterans, Arlington, Texas Chapter 157, reflecting his ongoing commitment to fellow veterans. Despite his Texas residence, he remained a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan. Above all, John Curry treasured his daughters and grandsons, and his beloved dogs.
John Curry was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa Curry, and his wife Dianna Curry. He is survived by his loving daughters, Jeanine Brindley and husband Leigh, Eileen Riccione and husband Buddy; his three grandsons, James Brindley, Cole Riccione, and Chase Riccione. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, countless friends, and his four devoted canine companions.
John Curry’s legacy is one of service, friendship, and unwavering love for his family and community. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
