John Fredrick Craig, Jr., a resident of Amarillo, Texas, sadly passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 48. A memorial service to honor John Craig’s life will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 23rd, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers, located at 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, TX. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the memory of John Craig.
Born on August 30, 1974, in St. Louis, Missouri, John was the son of John Sr. and Elizabeth Craig. His early years were spent in St. Louis before the family moved to Willard, Missouri. John Craig graduated from Marion C. Early High School and subsequently embarked on a career with BNSF Railway, which brought him to Amarillo, Texas. He dedicated his professional life to the railway, working as both a conductor and an engineer, roles in which he demonstrated diligence and skill.
John Craig was predeceased by his father, John Craig, Sr. He is survived by his loving mother, Elizabeth Craig, residing in Springfield, Missouri; his sister, Caroline Bagley, of Walnut Grove, Missouri; his son, William Craig, and daughter-in-law Michaela, of Willard, Missouri; and his cherished granddaughter, Tinley Craig, also of Willard, Missouri. These family bonds were a cornerstone of John’s life and provided him with immense joy and support.
Those who knew John Craig will remember him as a man of exceptional warmth and generosity. He possessed a big heart and a kind spirit, always ready to lend a hand or offer support to those around him. John’s quick-witted humor and infectious laugh could brighten any room, and he had a remarkable ability to connect with people through laughter. He deeply cherished his loved ones, especially his son William, of whom he was incredibly proud, and his granddaughter Tinley, who filled his heart with immeasurable happiness.
Beyond his professional life and devotion to family, John Craig was an outdoors enthusiast with a passion for various activities. He found pleasure in fishing and golfing, enjoyed the intricacies of working on cars, and had an interest in firearms. Known for his resourcefulness and intelligence, John was perceived by many as someone capable of tackling any challenge. His hardworking nature and bright mind were evident in all his endeavors.
John’s life was grounded in faith, and he found solace and strength as a son of his Heavenly Father. As we remember John Craig, we celebrate a life lived with kindness, humor, and a deep love for family and friends. He will be profoundly missed by his family, numerous friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
