“Lil John” Bowman will be fondly remembered for his infectious humor and sarcastic wit. He had a knack for making people laugh, often at the most unexpected and sometimes inappropriate moments. Known for his boisterous personality, John lived life unapologetically. His passions included cooking, the thrill of racing, flying remote-controlled planes, and the peace of fishing. One of John’s greatest joys was sharing his knowledge and skills, especially when teaching his children and grandchildren new things. A dedicated and hardworking provider, John spent over 30 years working in refineries. He took immense pride in seeing his children follow in his footsteps and join him in the industry. Beneath his joking exterior, John possessed a generous heart and a deep capacity for love.

John is survived by his mother, Cathy Bowman of Simmesport; his children, Aireal Bowman of Krotz Springs, Alex (Shelby) Bowman of Krotz Springs, Jada Bowman of Hessmer, and Triston Bowman of Plaucheville; and his cherished grandchildren, Brayden, Alaya, Ashton, Avery, Amelia, Able, and Ashlyn.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Bowman, Sr., and his sisters, Charlene Bowman and Chasity Bowman Thronson.

In remembrance of John’s compassionate nature and his dedication to important causes, especially suicide prevention and mental health awareness, his children kindly request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Scars Foundation.
