John Basil Hunt, a resident of Morris Plains, NJ, peacefully passed away on October 21, 2024, at the age of 93, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 17, 1931, in Orange, NJ, John Basil Hunt lived a rich and fulfilling life characterized by devotion to his family, cherished friendships, and dedicated service to his community.
For 70 years, John shared a loving marriage with his wife, Helen L. Hunt, who survives him. His legacy continues through his children: John W. Hunt and his wife Susan, Robert A. Hunt and his wife Kathy, and Pamela J. (Hunt) Kelly and her husband Tadgh. John Basil Hunt was a proud grandfather to Jason Hunt, Jessica Weil, Tyler Hunt, Zachery Hunt, Liam Kelly, and Meaghan Kelly. His joy expanded further with the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Ethan Hunt, Gavin Hunt, Charlotte Weil, Corrine Weil, Declan Kelly, and Maeve Kelly. He is also survived by his brothers, Peter Hunt and his wife Kathy, and Wayne Hunt, alongside numerous relatives and friends who will remember John Basil Hunt for his kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, and generous spirit.
Throughout his professional life, John Basil Hunt excelled in sales and took great pride in owning HyGrade Typewriter and Stationery in Morristown, NJ. His commitment to service extended beyond his business, as he was an active member of Kiwanis and various other community organizations, contributing his time and energy to make a positive impact. In his leisure time, John Basil Hunt found pleasure in golfing, tending to his garden, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his beloved family.
A funeral service to honor the life of John Basil Hunt will be held at Dangler Funeral Home, located at 600 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ 07950. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
