John B. Walton, a resident of Southington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at the Hospital of St. Raphael on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 62 years old, just days away from his 63rd birthday. Born on December 9, 1961, John B. Walton was a devoted husband to Nadine L. (Glass) Walton, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage.
Born and raised in Southington, CT, John was the only son of the late Gerald and Mary “Libby” (Abata) Walton. He graduated from Southington High School in 1979, embarking on a career in shipping and receiving and tech support. He dedicated his professional life to companies like Locknetics and Honeywell, where he was a valued team member.
Beyond his professional life, John B. Walton was a man of many passions. A fervent sports enthusiast, he was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. His love for speed and competition extended to NASCAR, where he passionately supported Tony Stewart. John also cherished travel, enjoying numerous cruises with Nadine and a memorable trip to Hawaii. For over three decades, the annual summer vacation to Hampton Beach with family and close friends was a highlight of his year, creating lasting memories.
Family was central to John’s life. He took immense pride and joy in supporting his grandchildren. He was Cierra’s dedicated equestrian fan, arriving before sunrise at horse riding competitions to cheer her on. For Cheyenne, he was her biggest softball supporter, always present at her games. And with Conner, he enjoyed watching t-ball games and enthusiastically supporting his musical talents in the marching band for the past two years. These moments spent with his grandchildren were among his most treasured.
John B. Walton was also a man of strength and commitment, demonstrated by his 16 years of dedicated membership in Alcoholics Anonymous. He deeply valued the friendships and support he found within the AA community, especially his Thursday night meeting group.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nadine, their cherished dog Bear, his daughter Erica Waller of Wallingford, and his three adored grandchildren: Cierra Walton and Tyler Tucci of Granby, and Cheyenne Waller and Conner Waller, both of Southington. John is also survived by his brother-in-law, Brian Glass and his wife Tracy of Buckeye, AZ; nephews Craig Glass and his wife Abby, along with their children Evan and Ella, of Brewer, ME; Colin Glass and his wife Lyla and their son, Teddy, of S. Portland, ME; and niece Michele Johnson of Buckeye, AZ, along with many cousins. He also leaves behind a strong network of supportive family and friends, including Kate and her extended family.
John was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Mary Walton, his mother-in-law, Ethel Glass, and his loyal canine companion, Captain, affectionately known as Cujo.
The Walton family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional team at the Hospital of St. Raphael for their compassionate and dignified care during John’s final 18 days.
