Remembering John Angel: A Life of Love, Family, and Exploration

John Arnold Angel, a beloved resident of Maineville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 27th, 2025, at the age of 52. His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, especially his family and friends who cherished his warm spirit and unique zest for life. John Angel was more than just a name; he was a devoted husband, an incredibly loving father, a cherished son and brother, and a friend to many.

Born on August 15th, 1972, in Xenia, Ohio, John Angel was welcomed into the world by his adoring parents, Mary and Gene Angel. From his early years, John displayed an inquisitive mind and a deep-seated curiosity about the world around him. Growing up in Cincinnati and Xenia, he thrived in a supportive and nurturing home environment that fostered his natural inclination towards science and exploration. This early encouragement led him to pursue higher education at Wright State University, where he earned a degree in Biology. His professional journey initially took him to Cardinal Health and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where he applied his scientific knowledge and analytical skills. However, in 2015, John embraced a new and profoundly fulfilling role: that of a full-time, stay-at-home dad, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to his children.

John Angel’s personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional pursuits. He and his wife, Kristina Angel (nee Wolf), shared a unique and enduring love story. Their meeting in the summer of 2004 was, as those who know them might say, serendipitous. Their connection deepened, culminating in a memorable wedding on December 18th, 2007. The snowy backdrop of Munich, Germany’s city hall provided a romantic setting for their vows. John and Kristina’s relationship was characterized by a beautiful appreciation of their differences and a profound love that served as the bedrock of their family. After nearly two years in Germany, their journey brought them back to Ohio. They established their home in Maineville, and their family blossomed with the arrival of twins, Oliver and Amelie, in 2015, followed by their younger sister, Annika, in 2017.

The depth of love for John Angel extended far beyond his immediate family. He was the heart of a large and loving network of people. His parents, Mary and Gene Angel, his wife Kristina, and his children, Oliver, Amelie, and Annika, were the center of his world. He is also survived by his siblings: Gene Angel, Anna Carrera (and brother-in-law Dustin Booher), and Joseph Angel (and sister-in-law April Angel). His nieces and nephews, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and countless cousins and friends, all felt the warmth of his presence and will deeply miss him.

However, it was in his role as a father that John Angel truly shone. His children, Oliver, Amelie, and Annika, were his ultimate pride and joy. As a stay-at-home dad, he poured his heart and soul into nurturing them with unwavering love and devotion. Described by those closest to him as an adventurous, funny, and gentle father, John crafted a unique relationship with each of his children, catering to their individual personalities and interests. Oliver shared his father’s fascination with King’s Island, maps, computers, and board games. Amelie connected with John’s love for food, especially spicy cuisine, and he understood her quiet yet insightful nature. Annika, his little sidekick, delighted in the imaginative and often silly figurine games they played before bedtime. He truly illuminated their lives and created a home filled with laughter and love.

Beyond his role as a dedicated family man, John Angel possessed a wide-ranging intellect and a captivating personality. He was incredibly knowledgeable on diverse subjects, making him a fascinating and humorous conversationalist. His interests extended to his furry companions; he adored his three cats and his dog, Piper, who were also cherished members of the Angel household.

John Angel’s passing is an immeasurable loss felt deeply by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, and his legacy of love, laughter, and exploration will continue to inspire those he left behind.
