Our Story: From Pipin’ Hot Beginnings to Local Legend
Jimmy John’s Pipin’ Hot Sandwiches started as an open-air stand on Wilmington Pike in 1940, thanks to Jimmy John’s entrepreneurial spirit after six previous food ventures. Quickly embraced by the community, it expanded through the years, even managed through WWII by Jimmy’s wife, Louise. After purchasing the land in 1945, a new building arose in 1948, only to be replaced by a larger one in 1960 due to highway expansion. Inside seating was added in 1973, further enhancing the customer experience.
In 2005, Roger Steward, a dedicated employee since 1974, took ownership, continuing Jimmy John’s legacy. He and the entire team are committed to preserving the tradition and quality that have made Jimmy John’s hot sandwiches a local favorite for decades.
