Jimmy John’s story began in early May 1940, when Jimmy John himself opened the open-air Pipin’ Hot on Wilmington Pike. Starting as a humble roadside stand, we’ve grown over the years, adapting and expanding while staying true to our roots. Through expansions in the 40s, rebuilding after highway construction in 1960, and adding indoor seating in 1973, Jimmy John’s has evolved to serve generations of loyal customers.
In 2005, Roger Steward, our longest-standing employee since 1974, took ownership, continuing Jimmy John’s legacy. We’re proud to be a local legend, a place where families gather and enjoy delicious food and a rich history.
