Welcome to John Muir Health Concord Medical Center. We are committed to providing a comfortable and healing environment for our patients and visitors. To ensure a smooth visit, please take note of the following guidelines regarding entrance, parking, visiting hours, and other important information.

Getting to John Muir Health Concord Medical Center: Entrance and Parking

The main entrance to John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center, is conveniently located off Almond Avenue. For visitors arriving by car, we offer a dedicated parking lot with 82 spaces specifically for patient and visitor parking. To accommodate additional parking needs, an overflow area is available behind the medical center, adjacent to the Emergency Department entrance. This alternate parking area can be easily accessed via Park Ave.

To help navigate our campus, we have enhanced our signage throughout the parking areas. Additionally, an attendant is stationed at the main entrance parking lot to assist with directions and provide a map of the parking facilities if needed, guiding you to the most convenient patient and visitor parking locations.

Visiting Policies at John Muir Health Concord

To support patient recovery and well-being, we have established visiting policies that balance patient needs with visitor access.

Visiting Hours

General visiting hours at John Muir Health Concord Medical Center are from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. Please be aware that specific units or departments may have slightly different guidelines, including visiting hours that may deviate from the general 9 AM to 9 PM timeframe. Unit or department staff will inform patients and visitors of any specific guidelines upon arrival. If you intend to visit a room marked “No Visitors” or “Isolation,” it is essential to check with the Clinical Supervisor or Charge Nurse before entering to ensure patient safety and privacy.

Visitor Check-In and Badging

To maintain a secure environment, all visitors are required to check in at the entry desks. Upon check-in, please present a government-issued identification card. If visitation is approved, you will receive a John Muir Health visitor badge. For the duration of your visit, it is mandatory to wear this visitor badge visibly at all times. Should you misplace your badge, please obtain a replacement from the entrance where visitor badges are provided. Your visitor badge is designated for specific units or areas within the medical center; please adhere to these designated areas during your visit.

Visitor Responsibilities

We kindly request all visitors to adhere to the following responsibilities to ensure a healthy and respectful environment for everyone:

  • Health and Wellness: Please refrain from visiting if you are feeling unwell, especially if you have symptoms of infection, fever, cold, diarrhea, or vomiting.
  • Conduct: Maintain respectful behavior. Inappropriate, loud, or threatening behavior is not permitted.
  • Substance Use: Visiting while intoxicated or under the influence of substances is prohibited.
  • Attire: Please wear appropriate attire, including shoes and a shirt.
  • Patient Care: Respect the patient’s treatment and care plan. Do not provide any care, treatment, food, or fluids to the patient without explicit physician orders.
  • Safety and Security: Refrain from any form of verbal or physical abuse, aggression, or violence.
  • Prohibited Items: For the safety and security of all, certain items are not permitted within the facility. These prohibited items include:
    • Weapons of any kind (firearms, knives, Tasers, pepper spray, etc.)
    • Metal items (razors, paper clips, staples, spiral notebooks, metal cans, safety pins, three-ring binders, nail files/clippers, metal hair clips, etc.)
    • Tobacco and vaping products (e-cigarettes, etc.)
    • Outside food and beverages (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) or any perishable items from outside the hospital
    • Drug paraphernalia (pipes, bongs, etc.)
    • Non-hospital prescribed medications, including marijuana products
    • Non-physician ordered drugs
    • Fire ignition sources (lighters, matches, etc.)
    • Flammable items
    • Bottles of any type

Consequences of Violations

Failure to comply with these visitor responsibilities may result in:

  • Revocation of visiting privileges.
  • Implementation of a Behavior Agreement in consultation with Patient Engagement.
  • Involvement of Law Enforcement if necessary.

Visitation by Minors and Infants

Visitation by minors and infants is permitted but must follow these guidelines:

  • Child’s Health: Ensure the child shows no signs of illness.
  • Adult Supervision: A responsible adult (other than the patient) must accompany and supervise the child at all times. Children cannot be left unattended anywhere in the Medical Center.
  • Behavior: Ensure the child behaves in a manner that promotes a safe and healing environment.
  • Direct Route: Bring the child directly to the patient’s room and avoid allowing them to remain in waiting rooms.
  • Patient Condition: Visitation by minors or infants may be discouraged if the patient’s condition or treatment might cause emotional distress to the child.

  • Lunch: 11:15 AM to 2:00 PM, daily
  • Dinner: 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM, Weekdays

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop at John Muir Health Concord Medical Center offers a variety of items.
