John-paul Miller, the husband of the late Mica Miller, has been arrested in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on assault charges. This development follows an FBI search of a property linked to Miller, though these charges are not connected to that search. The arrest stems from an incident involving a confrontation between John-Paul Miller and a group of female protesters near his church.
According to arrest warrants, the incident involved Miller approaching a group of protesters. Russell Long, John-Paul Miller’s attorney, stated to WMBF news that the protesters were intentionally provoking his client, attempting to “drive him crazy.” The arrest warrant details that John-Paul Miller “tapped the brim” of a protester’s baseball cap before walking away. However, a witness account given to the police claims “she observed the defendant hit the (victim’s) hat twice.”
John-Paul Miller was subsequently arrested and charged with third-degree assault and battery. He was processed and released from jail on Thursday morning after posting a $776 bond.
This arrest occurs amidst ongoing scrutiny and public interest surrounding John-Paul Miller following the death of his wife, Mica Miller, who died by suicide on April 27th in North Carolina. Mica Miller’s death has led to accusations from some friends and family alleging abuse by John-Paul Miller and suggesting his potential involvement in her tragic passing. John-Paul Miller has publicly and vehemently denied these accusations, stating, “I am the only one actually not to blame. I am the only one that tried to help keep her alive.” At the time of her death, Mica and John-Paul Miller were in the process of divorcing.
Despite the accusations and public speculation, John-Paul Miller has not been charged with any crime related to Mica Miller’s death. The current assault charges are separate and pertain to the altercation with protesters in Myrtle Beach.
