Carter John Hansen, affectionately known as “Carter Man,” passed away on June 25, 2023, in Preston, Idaho, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy that belied his young age. Born on December 11, 2017, in the same welcoming community, John Hansen, though his time was tragically short, profoundly touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His infectious spirit and zest for life made a lasting impression on his family and friends.
From his earliest years, John Hansen, or Carter as he was lovingly called, displayed an innate curiosity and a deep appreciation for the simple joys life offered. He possessed an eagerness to participate in every activity around him. Whether it was helping with cooking and baking in the kitchen, or eagerly joining in on fishing expeditions, Carter was always a willing and enthusiastic participant, fully embracing each moment. Interestingly, despite his love for fishing, young John Hansen had a humorous aversion to actually touching the fish he caught, a quirky trait that was part of his unique charm.
Carter’s journey into education began early as he bravely embarked on the exciting world of preschool. He recently celebrated a significant milestone, graduating from his second year of preschool – a remarkable achievement for someone so young. This accomplishment highlighted Carter’s natural thirst for knowledge and his genuine excitement for learning, traits that promised a bright future.
John Hansen’s personality was a beacon of purity and innocence. Known for being both silly and soft-spoken, Carter had a heart overflowing with kindness and generosity. With a boundless imagination, he loved to transform himself into his beloved superhero, Spiderman. To those who knew him, it truly seemed as though he could shoot spiderwebs just like his hero! Adding to his endearing nature, Carter also possessed a playful mischievousness that only enhanced his charm and made him even more lovable.
In his leisure time, John Hansen indulged in a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him immense happiness. He was a devoted fan of Spiderman, Buzz Lightyear, and Woody, characters that sparked his imagination and brought joy to his playtime. Riding his Stryder bike and scooters at his nana’s house were activities that filled him with exhilaration and infectious laughter. Playing with his loyal canine companion, Jax, was another source of endless delight for Carter. Furthermore, John Hansen found quiet pleasure in the pages of his favorite books, often losing himself in stories and adventures. He also discovered a love for gardening, taking great joy in planting and nurturing plants in his nana’s garden, watching them grow and flourish under his care. And no account of Carter’s joys would be complete without mentioning his delight in Grandma Gail’s famous pancakes, a special treat he always looked forward to.
Tragically, the vibrant and promising life of Carter John Hansen was cut short by a motor vehicle accident. There is some solace in knowing that he passed away peacefully at the scene, forever preserved in a state of innocence and joy. As we say farewell, we hold tightly to the precious memories of Carter’s beautiful soul and deeply cherish the all-too-brief time we were privileged to share with him.
In Heaven, John Hansen is now in the company of loved ones who preceded him. He is lovingly embraced by his cousin Beckham Lewis Hansen, Papa Kurtis, Uncles Jon Roley, and Levi Pitcher, as well as his Great Grandma Bonnie, Great Uncle Bob, and his Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Munson, and Great Grandad Guenole. Their spirits will undoubtedly watch over him in eternity, as he continues to bring smiles to their faces with his infectious joy.
Carter John Hansen is survived by a loving family who cherished him beyond measure. His mother, Jessica Munson Hansen, his father Joshua Jason Hansen, and his four siblings—Landon Kurtis, Allie Mae, Hunter James, and Ember Rose—will forever hold dear the precious moments they shared with him. Numerous extended family members and friends also join them in mourning the profound loss of this incredible young soul.
As we grieve the departure of Carter John Hansen from our lives, let us also remember and celebrate the radiant light he brought into our world.
