Remembering John Reynolds: A Life of Faith, Family, and Dedication

John Reynolds, aged 78, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2024, entering into eternal rest. A man of dedication and faith, John’s life was marked by his commitment to his family, his passions, and his community.

A proud graduate of Robbinsdale High School in 1964, John furthered his education at Northwestern Electronic Institute, where he majored in electronics. This foundation in electronics paved the way for a diverse and fulfilling career. His professional journey included roles at Litton Microwave, where he contributed to building commercial ovens; Tetra Pack, where he wired packaging machines; Angion, where he worked on implantable heart defibrillators; and finally, at the G.E. Engineering Department, wiring test heads. Throughout his career, John Reynolds demonstrated a strong work ethic and a meticulous approach to his craft.

Beyond his professional life, John Reynolds had a rich array of hobbies and interests. A devoted ham radio enthusiast, he connected with people across the globe, fostering relationships and sharing experiences through the airwaves. Maintaining an active lifestyle was important to John; he was an avid biker and hiker, consistently walking at least 3 miles daily. His passion for cars, particularly classic models, was evident in his love for car shows and his pride in keeping his own vehicles, especially his cherished Mercury Comet from his younger years, in pristine condition.

For 26 summers, John Reynolds and his wife Barbara created lasting memories at their camper in northern Minnesota, near Bemidji. This annual retreat was a highlight for them both, a time for relaxation and connection with nature. Adding to the joy of their lives was their beloved pet poodle, Mandy, who was a cherished member of their family.

Faith played a central role in John Reynolds’ life. As devoted members of Bridgewood Community Church, John and Barbara found deep meaning and fellowship within their church community. Their involvement in the Bridgewood Community Church Home Group was a source of spiritual growth and close friendships. John Reynolds also generously volunteered his time and skills to assist with the church’s sound system, contributing to the smooth operation of services and events.

John Reynolds was predeceased by his parents, Paul and LaVere Reynolds. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Barbara; his brothers, Jim, Scott (Lynn), and Jay (Diane); his brothers-in-law, Peter and Durayne Mitby; his aunt, Janice Olson; his nephew, Danny; his niece, Lisa; and numerous other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.
