Recently, I had the pleasure of experiencing the breathtaking beauty of St. John, and a significant part of that unforgettable trip was our stay at The Westin St. John Villas. Opting for a villa provided us with ample space and comfort, truly enhancing our island getaway.
One of the best decisions we made was renting a Jeep. Having our own vehicle from Sunshine rentals, who provided a seamless pick-up right at the ferry dock, gave us the freedom to explore St. John at our own pace. We were able to easily access numerous stunning beaches and embark on invigorating hikes, all on our own schedule. While taxis are available, especially to popular spots like Trunk Bay, relying on them for return trips from more secluded beaches could be less convenient.
Cruz Bay, the vibrant hub of St. John with its delightful restaurants and shops, is a short drive from The Westin. While perhaps a bit too far for a comfortable walk, taxis are readily available if you choose not to rent a car. For those planning to stock up on groceries, St. John Market and Dolphin Market are conveniently located near The Westin. However, be prepared for island prices – packing some snacks like microwave popcorn beforehand might be a budget-friendly idea.
The Westin itself is simply beautiful, with lush grounds and inviting villas. It’s worth noting for those renting vehicles that parking isn’t directly adjacent to the villas. Upon arrival, Westin staff are readily available to whisk you to your building via golf cart, or you can enjoy a leisurely walk to your accommodation.
For a fantastic dining experience, don’t miss the Beach Bar in Cruz Bay. Their shrimp dishes are absolutely divine, and their Painkillers and Bushwhackers are the perfect island cocktails. We enjoyed it so much we visited twice! Its beachfront location in Cruz Bay adds to the overall charm and makes it a must-visit spot during your St. John vacation.
