Green Bay Packers fan favorite John Kuhn has announced his departure from WRNW-FM (97.3), The Game, Milwaukee’s sports-talk radio station. Kuhn, who hosted the “Nine 2 Noon” show, shared the news via social media on Monday, marking the end of his tenure at the station.
Kuhn, a celebrated figure in Packers history for his fullback role from 2007 to 2015, expressed gratitude towards WRNW-FM and iHeartMedia for the opportunity he was given. In his statement on X, he acknowledged being “relieved of his duties” but remained optimistic, drawing parallels to his experiences of being cut during his NFL career. He stated his intention to use this time for “reflection and self scouting,” hinting at a future return, “better on the other side.”
“Today I was notified that I am being relieved of my duties with @TheGameMKE and @iHeartMedia,” Kuhn posted. “I want to thank Jeff Tyler and Tim Scott for giving me the opportunity to grow as an on air talent. I will always be grateful for your belief in me.”
Kuhn launched “Nine 2 Noon With John Kuhn” in May 2020, connecting with listeners throughout the COVID-19 pandemic period. Prior to his show at The Game, Kuhn was already a familiar voice to Packers fans, contributing digital and broadcast content for the team and WTMJ-AM (620) during game broadcasts. WTMJ-AM was the long-time radio home of the Packers before WRNW took over the broadcast rights in 2022.
Despite this change, John Kuhn remains connected to the Green Bay Packers as the sideline reporter for game broadcasts, a role managed directly by the Packers organization. His continued presence with the team ensures fans will still hear his insights during game days.
The announcement of Kuhn’s departure coincides with reports of widespread layoffs at iHeartMedia, WRNW’s parent company. RadioInsight.com has reported that these “massive cuts” are part of a corporate restructuring and could be the largest the company has seen since 2000, impacting numerous stations across the network. iHeartMedia’s Milwaukee cluster also includes WISN-AM (1130), WRIT-FM (95.7), WMIL-FM (106.1), WKKV-FM (100.7), and WOKY-AM (920).
