Navigating the question “What do you do?” has always been multifaceted for me. My approach has consistently been hands-on, deeply involved not just in the core task but in every supporting element. This holistic engagement has been key to building strong relationships and achieving success with the diverse range of artists, churches, and ministries I’ve been privileged to collaborate with. Understanding every stage of a project allows for a unique and effective partnership.
A Creative Force in Music and Video
Creatively, my journey spans over two decades in music production, engineering, and mixing, with some of my projects earning Grammy nominations and Dove Awards. I’ve been honored with RIAA Gold (certified 3X) and Platinum records. My passion extends to visual media, where I’ve directed and edited video projects that have garnered millions of online views and created broadcast television programming that reaches audiences worldwide.
At the heart of my music endeavors is Legendary Sound Studio, located in Fort Worth, TX. As owner and operator, I’ve had the pleasure of working with both emerging independent artists and globally recognized names such as Lilly Goodman, Josh Weathers, Chandler Moore (of Maverick City), and Dara Maclean. My studio has also been a creative home for Anthony Skinner, Mylon LeFevre, and prominent labels including Word Records, Warner Bros, Capital Records, and Sparrow/EMI. Legendary Sound Studio is more than just a recording space; it’s a hub for innovation and artistic development.
Deep Roots in Worship and Ministry
Worship is deeply ingrained in my life’s fabric. Growing up as a pastor’s son, I was naturally immersed in all facets of church life. Connecting people with God through music and the arts became my passion. This calling led my wife and I to establish the band Go Deep (1999-2012). Touring full-time, we experienced a level of success that resonated with audiences across the nation, sharing stages with leading artists at major events and festivals. Go Deep became known as the “independent band that could,” choosing to forge our own path rather than accepting label deals, pioneering a new approach for independent musicians in the worship genre.
My commitment to worship extends beyond performing. I continue to travel as a worship leader, frequently invited to churches for special events or to provide stability during transitional periods, collaborating with church leadership to cultivate fresh vision for their worship teams. Recognizing the importance of original music within church communities, I also offer my expertise in songwriting and production to help churches develop their unique sound and musical identity.
Consulting for Vision and Growth
Over time, as churches and non-profit organizations have sought innovative strategies to expand their reach and impact, I’ve been invited to contribute to these pivotal conversations. My consulting focuses on helping organizations define their identity, establish clear objectives, and implement systems that effectively realize their vision, tailored to their specific culture and community. In the realm of audio/visual presentation, I provide specialized consultation and training, focusing on maximizing impact within various budget scales. My experience includes consulting for numerous multi-million dollar non-profit organizations, guiding them towards effective resource management and strategic growth.
Family and The New Sound Is Family Ministry
My personal life is anchored by my 30-year marriage to Sherrie, the woman of my dreams, and our two wonderful children, Sarah and John Michael. Family is not just a personal priority; it’s the foundation of our ministry, “The New Sound Is Family,” launched in 2018. Our family’s vision is to awaken every individual to their true identity as sons and daughters of God. Together, we create and record music, travel globally, and lead worship and teaching at conferences and gatherings that span generations.
Through our music and ministry, we aim to inspire greatness in every person, helping them find their sense of belonging within God’s family.
