John Robert Lewis, age 42, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with a terminal brain tumor. His life, though tragically cut short, was filled with passion, determination, and a deep love for his family, especially his son.
A memorial service to celebrate John Robert Lewis’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, located at 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo. Billy Krause will be officiating, honoring John’s memory and the impact he had on those around him.
A Life of Passion and Determination
Born on July 2, 1982, in Amarillo, TX, John Robert Lewis was a proud graduate of Tascosa High School, class of 2001. From a young age, John was known for his intellectual curiosity and strong opinions. He was an avid reader and enjoyed engaging in spirited debates, always ready to share his well-informed perspectives with friends and family.
John Robert Lewis was a man of unwavering determination. When he set his mind to something, he pursued it relentlessly until he achieved his goal. This drive was evident in his passion for CrossFit. He dedicated himself to the discipline, achieving the esteemed Level 2 CrossFit instructor certification and working as a private trainer. His career and love for fitness took him across the globe, from Amarillo, TX, to Colorado, Kuwait, Dubai, the UK, and even Hawaii. During his adventures, John often expressed that he was truly “living the dream,” embracing each new experience with enthusiasm and zest for life.
Liam, The Apple of His Eye
Among all his accomplishments and travels, John Robert Lewis’s greatest joy was his son, Liam. Liam was, in John’s words, “the apple of his eye.” The love John had for Liam was boundless and profound, a love he cherished throughout his life and right up to his final moments. In reflecting on John’s life, it’s clear that love, in all its forms, was a guiding force. As we remember John Robert Lewis, we are reminded of the enduring power of love and its ability to prevail even in the face of loss.
John Robert Lewis was predeceased by his grandparents, Ray and Donna Lewis, and Ernest and Juanita (Baker) Smith, and Jerry Foreman.
He is survived by his beloved son, Liam Lewis, of Amarillo, TX; his mother, Jaynet Davis and her husband Tommy, of Amarillo, TX; his father, Randy Lewis, of Fort Collins, CO; his brother, Michael DiBiase, of Amarillo, TX; his half-sister, Amanda Cearns and her husband Fred; his uncle, Rick Lewis and his wife Suzie, of Spokane, WA; his aunt, Danna Krause and her husband Billy, of Amarillo, TX; his cousins, Katheryn Massey and her husband Shelby, and Will Krause; and his nieces and nephews, Lake Wartes, Addison Flaherty, Joanna Myers, Maudie Massey, and Mobley Massey, along with numerous other cousins and extended family members who will all deeply miss John Robert Lewis.
